Updated DFE Guidance for School Governing Bodies, Felicia Epstein, Department for Education
Felicia will highlight several updated guidance documents, including those on Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities, school governance, and the Equality Act as it applies to schools. She will also point out the process for raising SEND-related concerns with the Department for Education (DfE). Additionally, she will refer to the Statutory Guidance on the Cost of School Uniforms, which is expected to be revised and published by the DfE before the workshop begins.

This session will explore the role of school leaders and how governors can provide both challenge and support, in the best interests the leader and the school community.
Handling Complaints, Matt Miller, National Governors’ Association
Handling complaints effectively helps maintain trust and transparency between schools and their communities. This workshop will focus on the important role governors and trustees play in managing complaints and include how to ensure they are managed fairly and timely. An interactive session allowing you to share your own experiences, we will explore practical solutions to ensure complaints are kept to a minimum.
These workshops are free of charge for subscribed schools and £20 per person for non-subscribed schools.
