The Jewish schools’ network, PaJeS, has welcomed the government’s decision to scrap one-word Ofsted judgments on school performance with immediate effect.
In response, PaJeS said: The previous single-grade judgment often failed to accurately reflect the true quality of a school, overshadowing the excellent work being done.
“This new approach will encourage parents to delve deeper into Ofsted reports, providing a more comprehensive understanding of a school and helping them make the best choices for their children’s education.”
PaJeS chief executive Rabbi David Meyer has been a member of the Ofsted board since 2022.
Schools had been classified by one of four grades: outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate.
In September next year, a new “report card” system will be introduced to evaluate them.
