Background Information
The Oxford Jewish Congregation (OJC) provides for the needs of all Jews in Oxford under one roof. Whatever your background or your tradition, your level of observance or your circumstances, you have a home in this community. The OJC is an Independent Orthodox shul with Orthodox services; and other groups within the OJC organise Progressive, Masorti, children’s and women’s services, each in accordance with their own traditions. Each group protects the integrity of its tradition, but each group understands and accepts that it is part of a wide, unified, community.
Our cheder reflects the welcoming nature of the OJC which embraces and recognises all young people of our community, regardless of background or level of observance. We offer a dynamic programme comprising 3 sessions- Hebrew, Jewish Studies and ‘Options’ (creative projects linked to Jewish life).
