Little Stars nursery follows the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), making sure that the children learn a variety of different skills through play. Activities are set up to encourage the children to play with different toys and equipment that teach them the six areas of learning and development as identified in the EYFS, the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
Whilst they are playing a key worker is continually monitoring the children assisting in their play and observing the developments they are making. These are compiled into a learning journal which is a collection of documentation of the child’s development and given to parents when their children leave the nursery.
On a Monday and Wednesday there is a Jewish studies themed activity. Each month the theme changes and these include: the festivals, shabbat, shul, mezuzah and tzedakah. Activities include Rabbi visits, stories, music, shows and creative activities. On a Friday children enjoy a Shabbat party which includes a mock Kiddush with Shabbat Ima and Shabbat Abba, making challah, singing and dancing. The nursery also now hosts the Hebrew nursery rhyme group, You and Me, on a weekly basis.
On a Tuesday and Thursday children learn about UK topics including seasons, ourselves, shapes and colours, animals and transport, using different activities to involve the children, including painting, cooking, dress up and singing.
