Clore Tikva School is opened in 1999 and is a voluntary-aided co-educational school based in Ilford, Essex. The school roll is approximately 450 children.
Clore Tikva is a Jewish school (the name is derived from the philanthropic Clore foundation that supplied part of the original funding, and Tikva the Hebrew word for hope). The school has a pluralist outlook that is reflected in the school’s admissions policy and forms an integral part of the school’s ethos statement.
The school follows the National Curriculum and as well as dedicated lessons, Jewish Studies and Hebrew are also integrated into the main curriculum, in line with its ethos.
Early introduction to computer skills, the internet and e-mail are encouraged with two computers in each classroom, interactive white boards and a special computer suite.
Extra curricular activities include Israeli dancing, football, netball, violin, cello and recorder tuition, school choir and clubs for textiles, computer, drama and chess. There is also a Breakfast Club, Lunchtime Club and After School Club.
In its last Ofsted inspection in 2007 inspectors said: “Under the excellent leadership of the headteacher and deputy head a strong team has been forged that is totally committed to meeting the academic and personal needs of the whole child. This is seen not only in pupils’ good achievement and the above average standards they reach, but also in their outstanding personal development and well being.”
