Calderwood Lodge is voluntary-aided co-educational school situated in Newlands on the south side of Glasgow and comes under the authority of East Renfrewshire Council.  It has around 150 pupils and also has a nursery attached taking 80 children in the morning and afternoon, with options available for ‘wrap-around’ care. In addition to covering all eight aspects of the curriculum, Calderwood Lodge aims to promote the study of Hebrew and Jewish culture.

The school has no catchment area and all entrants to the school are as a result of parental placing request. Calderwood Lodge is an integral part of the Jewish community. It has a very supportive and active Parent Council and works closely with Calderwood Jewish Education, a charity which administers the Hebrew and Jewish Studies department. Rabbi Rubin of Giffnock Synagogue is chaplain to the school.

The school ensures that the curriculum extends beyond the classroom. Lunch time and afterschool clubs include hockey, basketball, Israeli dancing and streetdance. Violin teaching is offered by a visiting music specialist employed by ERC. Other extra-curricular activities include chess, sports and cycling clubs. Calderwood Lodge works in partnership with parents to foster a sense of pride and identity in its pupils’ heritage within a strong Jewish ethos which values each individual.

The school provides a broad, balanced curriculum with continuity, progression and depth of learning all the way through the school. Admissions: 0141 570 7060
