Apples and Honey Nursery is a small nursery in South London that is centred on the values and traditions of Judaism. It aims to create a warm and caring environment in which children are able to make the transition from home to school securely and where they will be happy, confident and enjoy the company of others. Its high staff to child ratio enables the children to receive individual attention and develop at their own pace.

“The Staff are caring, consistent and exceptionally committed to what they do with a very good understanding of children’s needs.” (Ofsted). The children are encouraged to explore the wonders of language, science, numeracy and all aspects of the world around them. They learn through constructive and imaginative play, creative art, music and movement. Its work is topic- based and closely aligned to the National Curriculum and, as learning is experiential, it supplements its nursery-based work with outings to farms, galleries, libraries and other local places of interest.

Apples and Honey Nursery is a registered nursery education provider and is in receipt of Government funding. It can cater for 30 children who join during the year as they reach the age of 2.5 years. It is subject to regular inspections by Ofsted who noted at its last inspection that “The quality of nursery education is outstanding” and “Children make outstanding progress in their learning and have excellent levels of achievement.” Staff maintain a close relationship with parents and carers: “The partnership with parents is outstanding”, and it also has close links with the wider community. It is open for 38 weeks in the year from 9.30 – 12.30 Mon- Fri and, after children have reached their third birthday, they can bring a vegetarian packed lunch and stay till 14.00 for its school-readiness sessions.
