Alyth Kindergarten was established in 1970 to provide pre-school progressive education for Jewish children. The Kindergarten was awarded ‘Outstanding’ in their 2015 Ofsted inspection.

The exceptional management team rigorously drives improvement forward. They lead staff to ensure they deliver the highest standards of practice so that all children achieve their full potential. Partnerships with parents are exceptional. Staff involve parents in all aspects of the setting, including their children’s ongoing learning and development. Staff use highly successful systems to assess and identify children’s individual needs accurately. Children receive early support, when needed, in order to help them make the best possible progress. Staff use planning extremely effectively to support children’s development. They ensure activities and experiences are challenging to provide children with continuous opportunities to extend their learning. Children develop confidence, resilience and tolerance towards others through highly effective experiences that promote these important qualities. Children make consistently high rates of progress and are extremely well prepared for the next stage of their education.

This nursery school’s outstanding reputation has grown over the years and continues to maintain its unique position in the area for its child-centred and caring approach.

Alyth Kindergarten aims to provide a warm and nurturing fun-filled environment where each morning is a new adventure and laughter, fun and learning through play are the order of the day. Alyth’s ethos is to educate the whole child and build the emotional intelligence so vital for academic learning.

Through free expression in all forms of creative art, music and movement, drama, constructive and imaginative play, children are encouraged to develop at their own pace to become happy, independent, secure, sociable and confident, and aware of the world around them. Alyth encourages children to become keen to absorb knowledge and socially ready and mature to fit into the new social group at their school.

At Alyth, a two year programme is offered, beginning when a child has turned 2 years old by 31 August of that year. Should you feel your child is ready for kindergarten and they turn two between September and end of January, Alyth do consider accepting them with the option of repeating 6 months in K1.

Priority for admission to the Kindergarten is always given to Alyth members.

Alyth have two classes: K1 (2-3 year olds) and K2 (3-4 year olds). Two intakes per year take place for the younger group. The first is during September and the next intake is in January. Alyth Kindergarten can accommodate up to 46 children with staffing ratios well within the requirements and with full-time staff having all the necessary qualifications.

The kindergarten is open Monday to Friday from 09:00-12:00 for the 2 to 3 year olds and 09:00-12:15 for the 3 to 4 year olds. Extended and excellent afternoon themed sessions are offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 14:30 for K1 and K2.

A breakfast club is available 8.00 – 9.00 am (offering an additional hour to those parents who need it).
