We are seeking a reliable and highly organised individual to join our team as a Clerk to the Governing Body at our friendly and welcoming primary school.

This is a key role providing administrative and procedural support to the governing body, helping to ensure meetings run smoothly and that statutory requirements are met.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute agendas and supporting papers in advance of meetings
  • Attend and clerk approximately 9 governing body meetings per year (usually evenings)
  • Take accurate minutes and record decisions and actions
  • Provide advice on governance procedures and statutory duties
  • Maintain confidential records and documentation
  • Undertake administrative tasks between meetings, including correspondence and follow-ups

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Have strong written communication skills, particularly minute-taking
  • Be able to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Have good IT skills
  • Be flexible and able to attend evening meetings

Previous clerking experience or knowledge of school governance is desirable, but not essential – training can be provided for the right candidate.
